Glossary of Window Treatment Terms

Valance with fabric sewn in a tubular form. The pocket can be stuffed providing a pouf look. (Example: Marissa Baloon Valance)

Door Panels

Fabric panel (usually sheer or Lace) with rod pockets on top and bottom, most with tiebacks.

Floral

(Example: Ambrosia Valance)

(pronounced "jab-OHs") Vertical side panels placed on either side of a swag. (Example: Stacey Three-Piece Jabot Set)

Jacquard

(Example: The Windsor)

Rod Pocket Panels

Drapery panels, usually formal, of assorted lengths shirred along a pole or rod and often tied back using tiebacks.

Rectangular fabric panels that can be draped over a decorative rod or scarf holder.

(Example: the Whisper)

Panels designed to hang by looping fabric "tabs" at the top of the drape over decorative rods. (Example: Weaverscloth Tab Top Panel)

A decorative drapery which hangs along the top of a window for ornamental decoration as well as to conceal window hardware.
